IPVAS F TABLET is a combination of Atorvastatin and Fenofibric Acid which belongs to the group of medicines called Hypolipidemic drugs. It is used to treat hyperlipidemia (high blood lipid levels) in addition to proper diet, exercise and lifestyle changes.
Hyperlipidemia is a condition characterized by increased levels of bad cholesterol and triglycerides (fats) in the blood. If left untreated, these fat particles get deposited in the blood vessels and may obstruct blood flow through them, leading to various complications such as heart attack or stroke.
By reducing lipid levels in the blood, LIPVAS F TABLET can also be used to prevent the risk of heart attack, stroke, atherosclerosis and other circulatory disorders.
Take LIPVAS F TABLET with meals. Along with the treatment, follow the diet, exercise and lifestyle changes instructed by your doctor to achieve better results. Avoid drinking large amount of alcohol while taking LIPVAS F TABLET. If you are diabetic, work on your blood sugar levels and keep them under control.
Before taking LIPVAS F TABLET inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have thyroid problems, diabetes, high blood pressure or a family history of muscle disorders.
LIPVAS F TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver or kidney problems. It is also not suitable for use in patients who had recently taken an antibiotic called Fusidic acid to treat bacterial infections.
Do not take LIPVAS F TABLET if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Women of childbearing potential must use a suitable contraceptive method to avoid pregnancy while undergoing therapy with LIPVAS F TABLET. If you accidentally become pregnant while taking LIPVAS F TABLET, stop taking this medicine and consult your doctor immediately.
During treatment with LIPVAS F TABLET, your doctor will periodically monitor your liver functions, kidney functions, blood sugar levels, muscle functions and blood cholesterol levels to avoid the risk of unwanted side effects.
The most common side effects of taking LIPVAS F TABLET are headache, constipation, bloating, muscle pain, neck pain, inflammation of the nose, throat pain and liver problems. Consult your doctor if they bother you.
You must also inform your doctor if you experience severe unexplained muscle pain or weakness with fever, weakness or reddish-brown urine after taking LIPVAS F TABLET.
Take LIPVAS F TABLET as directed by your physician. It is taken preferably after meals. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking LIPVAS F TABLET without consulting your doctor.
